Middle School

I attended Derby Middle School, which offered a well-rounded education, including a strong art program. Outside of running cross country, art was my main outlet—a way to free my mind. During that time, I was going through a difficult period as my dad had a heart attack and spent a while in the hospital. My art teacher, Mrs. McGrath, guided us through various drawing and painting projects, one of which was a close-up study of candy wrappers. It was both challenging and creatively stimulating, helping me stay focused and grounded during that time.
